Dwarf pygmy goats
Belonging to the South African ancestry, the dwarf pygmy goats are of small size and stature. Mainly found in Nigeria, these dwarf goats are very cute and one of the smartest animals.
They are of three colors namely black and white, gold and brown with the last two having broken lines of white color. The dwarf goats are cute, lovable and very smart. Their size is not to vary from 23 inches for the bucks and 21 inches at the withers.
Most of the pygmy goats are horned but the breeders disbud them at the early age of their life as a precaution measure for the sake of their safety. The goats get bonded with the humans and are highly efficient in getting trained. They are tentative and are used mainly as pets. Apart from giving us meat, dwarf goats also fetch us milk. So they are useful in many ways.
It has been seen that most of the human being complain of the goats’ raising. Rather it is quite easy to raise these dwarf goats because they are small in size and can be rendered free in the pasture land or any small farmhouse built for the purpose. Breeding of the goats is also an important part of their raising. They can be breed naturally or getting artificial insemination. The only point to keep in mind is that you have to know well about the fertility behavior of the does. In fact, breeding should be done in the autumn season that is well-suited for the pygmy goats.
Their diet should contain green pastures and some healthier food contents that make them fleshy. The pygmy dwarf goats are also popular as the hobby goats due to their miniature shape and easy, low-cost maintenance. The goats should be taken care of very regularly so that they may not get diseased and wicked. They should be kept in healthier environment and kept healthy while breeding process specially does.
They are also vaccinated for tetanus, types C&D enterotoxaemia so that they are not prone to the diseases. For feeding these dwarf goats 16-18% protein is enough with fresh pastures, grains and fresh water containers. This diet is quite beneficial for them in maintaining their health.
The Nigerian dwarf pygmy goats are mainly considered as the best breed of its type and are more helpful in nature. They are small beautiful and comes in a number of colors.
